U-Care Medical at SMART 2025: Artificial Intelligence is already transforming AKI management in Intensive Care

From May 7 to 9, U-Care Medical took part in the 36th SMART Meeting (Smart Meeting Anesthesia Resuscitation inTensive care), held at Allianz MiCo in Milan, one of the most relevant events in Italy for professionals in anesthesia, resuscitation, and Intensive Care.

In this context, the company presented the scientific session “Clinical Artificial Intelligence and Acute Kidney Injury – Innovative Solutions to Improve Clinical Outcomes”, dedicated to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the management of Acute Kidney Injury (AKI).

The session featured experts in the field who, through data and real-world experience, demonstrated how AI can be a valuable resource in critical care medicine.

Dr. Gianluca Villa, from the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Careggi in Florence, opened the session with a clear and focused analysis of AKI epidemiology in critically ill patients, emphasizing how crucial early recognition is for improving patient prognosis. He also underlined the value of predictive tools integrated into daily clinical workflows, capable of providing timely and reliable decision support.

Following this, Dr. Carmine Domenico Votta, from the Azienda Socio Sanitaria Territoriale di Lodi, shared the experience of the Ospedale Maggiore di Lodi, where the platform developed by U-Care Medical has already been implemented. The results showed a significant improvement in workflow, faster interventions, and a positive impact on clinical outcomes. A concrete example of how well-designed technology can effectively integrate into daily practice, supporting clinical staff and enhancing operational capacity.

The strong attendance and high level of interest from the audience confirmed that the clinical world no longer sees AI as a future possibility, but as a concrete and increasingly integrated asset in hospital practice. Participation in the 36th SMART Meeting 2025 reaffirmed the central role of digital innovation in critical care medicine. With the U-Care Renal Platform, Artificial Intelligence becomes a practical and already operational tool, capable of anticipating complications and supporting timely decisions in highly complex settings.

In a healthcare system moving increasingly toward personalized and proactive care, solutions like this represent not just a technological evolution, but a true paradigm shift in caring for the critically ill patient.
